Are you using window defender if so turn it off.
Actually this measure is taken in order for the prevention of harmful viruses. But if you are sure the source is trustworthy, then go ahead and follow my steps:

Open MSN Messenger, click Tools %26gt; Options. Then click the File Transfer tab on the left and under File Transfer Options, tick the box that says: "Scan for files using:" and then below it click Browse... then browse to your Anti-Virus software file. If you do not have anti-virus software, I suggest that you click Install to install the Windows Live OneCare scanner if you are using Windows Live Messenger (v. 8x).

Where the files are usually:

AVG Anti-Virus: C:/Program Files/Grisoft/AVG7\avgemc.exe
