My computer has a virus! What do you suggest I do?

I ran every virus and spyware program you can think of and It says that it's still infected. It doesn't prevent me from doing anything. I can still sign online, etc. It's just that when I sign on, in the bottom left corner of the screen in the icon tray, there is this icon that appears and it's a white X in a red circle and when i move my cursor over it, it says, "Your computer is infected."...and my cursor is no longer just the arrow, it ALWAYS has the small hour glass beside it as if it's waiting for something to load and it blinks rapidly (is there a virus that makes this happen?). I think my computer is doing alot better than it was but I don't it's completely over whatever it had. PLEASE HELP. I downloaded AOL Saftey and Security Center since I am a member of AOL and I try to click the Virus Protector on but it won't turn on. I'm so desperate and frustrated.

Yuor PC is infected by spyware/trojan, the one you described is not easy to remove, try the following :

Download Spybot, update it, then run to remove the spywares.

Then go to www.bitdefender.com and do an online scan.

Then download Avast professional (30 day trial no key needed) and install it, it will ask if yuo wish to scan after restart, say yes to it.

Help! my computer is being weird?

basically my computer has been running smoothly until now, i have high speed cable as an internet connection and kaspersky internet security as virus protection, there was a virus i had before i got kaspersky (i think i still have the virus)and it set restrictions on my computer, like my internet explorer settings and desktop background settings i tried logging onto administrator and its not working, plus i can't upload ANYTHING, photobucket doesnt work, imageshack doesnt work, even uploading music on my myspace page doesnt work and even certain websites dont even load, i cant even look at my emails because my internet is so messed up now my laptop works perfectly tho and it connects through the same internet, can someone help me please? i really appreciate it

you could try ending some of your processes via control-alt-delete and then run a virus scan. you could try a different browser ie. mozilla firefox which is what I use. and last but not least ...as much as I hate to say it make backups of all your files you want to keep, and wipe your hard drive clean (I had to do it a couple weeks ago. It was a huge pain but it runs like new again)

I have my A+, would it help my career to get other certifications like Network+, or Security+? I don't want an entirely new career, just to enhance my career as a computer technician.

Security + is different from network so don't get cocky.

I have my CISSP. Study for that and make sure you get low level and middle level experience.

Down side to getting a bunch of certs or mentioning it is interviewers sometimes like at you like a cert- whor3(sorry).

How to protect ICS host computer from viruses from my client computer?

Im connected through the router to a friends computer, who provides the internet (using internet connection sharing ICS). He's got viruses and there is 99% chance I got too. He's now doing deep cleaning of his machine, but for some reason he doesn't want to clean mine. I cant do cleaning of my computer.

What is the best way of protecting his computer from my viruses. Is it possible at all, as I want to surf the internet later on.

This is, of course, just the temporary solution, I'll clean my machine later, but I need the internet tonight.

Please provide detailed answer for firewall settings or other security measures needed.

Untill now, he turned off his AV internet firewall,(leaving only windows firewall on), as whenever he turns it on, I cant access the internet. But he will probably turn it on after he finishes cleaning.

The only way to protect your friend's computer is to have a firewall on HIS computer, not yours. Unfortuantely, in order to share internet, the firewall must be down. It's a catch 22 here. The safest way will be for you to connect directly to the internet through the router if possible, or if you're on a dialup connection, to connect from your computer.

like if i go to the start menu and hit search and search all the files in my computer it gets to like 5000 then says this program has received an error and needs to close. then at the bottom of the window that poped up its like send error report or don't send. all i can think of is to reinstall my windows xp using the CD!! same if i try to download something from the internet. wat is it like registry probelms . I have spyware terminator for anitviruis along with kaspersky internet security 7.0 verison. Where could the problem be how do i fix it and how do i prevent this from happening again. ( this all started happening when my dad downloaded a viruis into the computer)

kaspersky is a very good antivirus..as long as it's updated..update your antivirus, boot your pc in safe mode, then do a full computer scan..but i think the problem is with windows itself..try first doing a system restore..if error still occurs, reformatting shall do the trick..

I had that on my pc. the only way i know how to get rid of it is by reinstalling windows. but make sure you back up your files.

I was following the direction of one of my friends and pressed F2 at startup which brought me to PhoenixBIOS Setup Utility (option tabs are Main, Advanced, Security, Power, Boot and Exit). My buddy told me to go to Exit and Load Setup Defaults so that my computer would be wiped and I could reinstall XP. Well now that I did that it starts up with the DELL logo and I have the options of F2 and F12 if I want. But then once it loads I get a black screen that says NTLDR is missing Press Any Key to Restart. When I hit any keys it just says the same thing?! Please help me, I need to get that fixed and then reload XP witht he disk so I can clear my computer! My computer is an older Dell Latititude LS Laptop...
