ok, my uncle lives 2 floors down so ew got a router so he could use my internet. recently my internet has been going slow as hell so i decided to set up a password because i was wondering if a neighbor was being a bandwith hog. so when i entered the pword i went to tell my uncle and he wanted help entering the password. i wasnt sure where to enter it so i started looking around. i opened internet options then as soon as i clicked the advanced tab it crashes and restarts. its stuck in a restart loop so i go to safe mode and do a restore and that doesnt help. (it is restarting at the account log in page not even starting up) so just out of curiosity i turned off the security setting on the router and his computer started up fine.
this makes absolutely no sense to me! how could the router cause his computer to crash at the account login screen? and how can i fix it?
Computer router caused uncle's computer to crash when i set up a password?computer protection
There can be MAC filtering done on the router.
So reset the router once and configure it from scratch with security.
Also set a name for your wireless network.
Then right click on the small icon on the right bottom of the screen which says "Wireless Network Connxn" and go to "View available wireless Networks".
Highlight your network and click connect, It will prompt for a password, Enter the password and you will get connected.
