hey must put everything behind a firewall. encrypt anything that conains anything remotly confidenttal to the business o its customers. they have to password every account and make sure only the right people get access. they have to do it becuase its law. part of it is data protection act. and it's jsu commons sense. you wouldnt want a rival company to send some one in who could just download all your data.

A company should use the strongest possible system security to protect their data from those who would steal it for their own gain. Also, the company should diligently safeguard the system from their own employees who are not always conscientious about their work. A lazy employee, using measures to defeat security so that they can surf sites known for malicious code, can, and will, infect the entire system rendering it less than desirable in the area of performance. Perhaps worse, is the chance that the same employee would leave the system and its proprietary information open to phreakers who could harvest the data and sell it to a competitor. Lazy, inept employees, using proxies to attempt to defeat security are as bad as a kid trying the same thing in school. When they get caught doing this, the employees should lose their jobs and the kids should be expelled for the same reason, computer sabotage. Maybe then the workplace would have room for a good employee and the schools would have room for good students. In tomorrow's world, smart, capable leaders are needed to compete in a world market. You don't learn that by goofing off at school or work.
