My computer skills are beginner/intermediate. I purposely left out the product names. (The question is at the end.)
My main security software has a spyware/adware feature that is up and running with the rest of the suite.
I have an independent, and reputable, spyware/adware program that I recently downloaded and installed. It seems a better program so far because it detected and removed some things that the other spyware/adware program didn't.
Are they going to cause conflicts if I deactivate the one in my main security suite and use the new software that I downloaded?
Thank you in advance.
I have a question concerning security software.?bmw
It would have been best to have mentioned the names.
In general you can run more than one anti-spyware app as long as no more than one is providing resident, real-time protection. You can use as many on-demand anti-spyware scanners as you want. Most people who are serious about computer security use several as no single program can find them all.

Although they probably won't conflict, if you have the CD (or the installation file) for the original program, I'd suggest uninstalling it and using the NEW one. This will make sure they don't conflict. Running both programs uses more RAM than necessary.
Its ok to have more than one anti spyware, but NEVER use more than one anti virus, as they will conflict with each other.
