Recently, a blue screen popped up on our computer and It read "Windows system error. Security Halted". My dad brought it to get fixed and the man said that our computer crashed because we were still using Windows ME, so he upgraded it and we pick it up today. My real question is do you lose everything on your computer?

What does it mean when your computer crashes?
You didn't loose everything unless they formatted your drive to install and the new XP, which they didn't have to do. If you were working on anything before the crash though that information has been lost because it wasn't saved.
