How will i log in to my computer if i forgot my password???

please help me.... my cousin configured my security settings accidentally and now my computer is asking me a password when i log in.... i havnt used my password for a very long time..... please help...

Boot your computer up in safe mode, if you have XP. It should bring up multiple accounts to login with. Choose the administrator (Hopefully, you don't need the password, there, either.)

Once logged in via safe mode, open up the Control panel. The open up User accounts.Click on Change an Accounts. Select account to change. Click on change(remove?) password, either remove password security, or change the password .

Reboot computer, and login.

Do you have an admin login? If so use it to change/delete the password protection.
unless others can use your computer (at home?) I've found it best to not set up my computer to open with a administrator id and password.If u ever forget those things, you can't do anything on the pc. So, I'd advise to not set up your personal home computer with an administrator name and password code. It caused me nothing but the lack of ability to get into my computer. I live alone, so, a password would be stupid for me tro set.
What Jer said is correct. Also in safe mode it mgith still ask you for password. What you can do is just type in Administrator or administrator (can't remember which) for user name and no paswword. Then you can access the settings.

Reboot and during the boot process press F8 to get into safe mode. Then select the "Administrator" and from there go to the control panel, then Users. Pick your profile and from there you can clear your password.
